The whole squad will be going down to West Leeds’ Redshaw Road ground on Wednesday morning as part of a new initiative by the club and the charitable Leeds Rhinos Foundation to keep young players connected to the grassroots of the game.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation have donated the funds to purchase paint to decorate the amateur clubs changing room areas for the benefit of young players playing at the club and the Under 19 squad, the majority of whom divide their time between training and studying at college, will be on hand to make the project happen.
Following the project at West Leeds, clubs will be able to apply to have similar works done via our Club ambassador scheme and in doing this, we hope to improve the facilities at several clubs this year.
Academy Assistant Coach Jonny Wainhouse said, “We were keen to give the lads some real life experience as well as just playing rugby and this is a great chance for them to do that and give something back to the grassroots of the game. We would like to thank the Leeds Rhinos Foundation for donating the funds for the paint and this is something we hope will become a regular feature in a player development programme during the year.”
